Terms of Use
Last updated: June 2026
These terms cover use of Harper, a service from Oto Health. They're a plain-language summary; a full agreement is provided to clinics on sign-up. Questions: hello@joinoto.com.
What Harper is
Harper is everyday behavioural support that helps people settle into new hearing aids through friendly text-message check-ins. Harper is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, assess, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified clinician. Anything clinical is referred to the patient's clinic or, in an emergency, to local emergency services.
Using the service
Clinics are responsible for enrolling only patients who are happy to receive text messages, and for keeping their access credentials secure. Patients can opt out of messages at any time by replying STOP.
Text messages
By enrolling a patient, the clinic confirms the patient has given verbal consent to receive SMS text messages from Harper. Harper sends a handful of supportive check-ins over the first weeks, plus replies whenever the patient texts back — message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Patients can reply HELP for help, or reply STOP to cancel at any time to unsubscribe. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties. Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle information.
Availability
We work to keep Harper reliable but provide it "as is", without warranty that messages will always send or arrive — carrier delivery is outside our control. Features and availability vary by region.
